Clothing colours

A garment's colour alone cannot establish its halal or haram status in every situation. Texts, customs, context and interpretations may all matter. Turning a cultural preference for black, white or another shade into a universal obligation would be misleading.

Practical checks: clothing colours

Before buying, separate your aesthetic preference from the particular religious question you need clarified. Seek a reference suited to that situation, then check fabric opacity, especially in lighter shades. Lining, studio lighting and the colour of clothing underneath can substantially change what a product photograph appears to show.
